This post will show you how to download and install Splooshe. Please bear in mind that the game is far from finished, and any feedback at all is greatly appreciated to help with the development process.
Splooshe is a zombie apocalypse themed game, a linear story experience created, designed and voiced by me.
For system requirements, see this page.
Note: The game ends when the screen fades out, and the main menu is shown.
If you already have Steam installed, download the installer below. Once you've installed Splooshe, restart Steam. There will be an entry for it on your Steam games list.
Double click the mod there, and Steam will either download the appropriate SDK files (about 3GB of data) to play, or will launch Splooshe if you already have the files needed.
You will need to download it.
I'd appreciate feedback on the levels I have created so far. Some example pointers:
fps_max set to 300 - not necessary. Shipping with 60 next timeItems with a ✓ character next to them have been addressed, and will be fixed in the next version of the game. The version above however still has these bugs.
To give feedback, you can email me, comment below or message me on Twitter. It doesn't have to be technical - can be anything at all that you don't think is right.
Why is Splooshe-240811.exe deleting all my sourcemods files?
This has happened twice with different versions of the same files. The other one is Splooshe-081211.exe
By the time I stopped it, about a third of my sourcemods files were gone. Before trying the Splooshe-240811.exe file, I copied the sourcemods directory to a safe place on another drive. Sure enough, the process dropped a goodly portion of the sourcemods directory before I could stop it…and, by the way, the X in the upper right of the progress window was grayed out, so I had to End Task in Task Manager to stop it.
I’m going to send this to several sites in an effort to call attention to the problem.
First, I’m emailing this to http://alan.edward.es/posts/splooshe-... to draw his attention to it.
I'm sorry the installer is doing this for you. I programmed it to delete the contents of "sourcemods/splooshe", (or the folder you picked to put splooshe in) not the root sourcemods folder. This isn't the desired behaviour and I apologise for the inconvenience. I will investigate this later today.
Get the source on GitHub already. This sounds great.
