Running Theme Hospital on Windows 7 or Mac OSX

Edit: A commenter called Macha pointed out below that you can also use DOSBox to run the original Theme Hospital, something I was unaware of when I wrote this post. Go to comment ↓

Simple answer: you don't run the original Theme Hospital, you run corsix-th, an open source adaptation of the incredibly addictive game (mainly) written in Lua and C++.

Right now the project has many of the features of the original game, and additional features are being implemented on a frequent basis.

I'm really excited about where this project is going, and I can see it being much better than the original - any bugs can be fixed and specific parts of the game made better.

What rather worries me is that they have of had completed the game to copy the levels? I don't know about you but I could never get past the first few levels :(

I think the levels would have been copied from the resources; no game completion needed.

I guess the developers people would have to know the game inside out in order to re-create other bits though :P

Quoggle: how did you get Dosbox to run it? I can't make head nor tail of it altho I don't pretend to be very computer literate!

I hope the blog owner doesn't mind me posting this here.

@Pidge: I wrote an article a while back on how to get the game running using dosbox: http://blog.webicity.info/2009/10/13/...

Just skip down to past the second picture for the DOSbox instructions.

CorsixTH is shaping up to be pretty cool too, but it's still not completely finished, at least last time I checked.

@Macha got no problem with it at all. If it's something relevant to the article or comments and is likely to help others I encourage it :-)

I don't really know much about computers, so what is a DOSbox and how do i get Theme Hospital on it? Is it already on the computer? (sorry if these are stupid questions)

DOSbox is something you download, it lets you run programs and games as if you had an old operating system (MS-DOS), as Theme Hospital can't run on newer versions of Windows.

You can get it here: http://www.dosbox.com/

You may be able to follow the general instructions and run Theme Hospital with it, but I haven't tried it so I don't know if it works.

Good luck.
