It would be the last place on earth that I would expect flooding to occur, but it happened. Sometime in the middle of last week the banks of the River Idle in Retford burst, letting loads of water into the surrounding areas, (and as seen in the photo) completely submerging them. I didn't get out there with my camera quick enough just after it happened, but on Thursday of last week I went down to kings park to look at the flooding. I wasn't expecting anything as bad as the flooding was, as the water had nearly reached the Children's play area in King's Park. I know one person who lived in Retford had to evacuate his home following the advice of the local authorities. I'm not sure how bad the flooding is in other parts of England, but I find this to be pretty drastic as I would expect Retford to be one of the last places on earth to flood.
Even though I did catch it late, my photos are here.
