Well, I can only agree with the fact that I don't like itune to look like an Apple apps. I am a Win7 user and never be and probably never will be a Mac user. Besides, the only reason I use iTune is to buy music (which you can download a certain number of time!) and to sync my Ipod.

Everything else I use well programed software like MP3 Gain to normalize songs, iTunes Library Updater to actually create and maintain my iTune library (I don't let iTune manage its own library cause it messes it all up!), MP3 Tag to create and manage ID3 Tags and MPEG Audio Collector to maintain my complete MP3 Library (awesome tool when you have over 100 mp3 dvds!). Finally, I am a winamp addict and it is the only one mp3 player I ever used, oh, I tried Windows Media Player but if you think iTune is a piece of junk it's in the garbabe bin just on top of Windows Media Player.

Last thing, if you ever need an WMA/MP3 Converter, give a try to Free Mp3 Wma Converter from koyotesoft, great tool.

itunes is crap! I know some geeks out there will defend it to the death, but it really sucks! I just want to listen to some music thats all. It constantly looses, duplicates or shuffles tracks.I know you can probably sort these issues by setting preferences etc, but i don't want to sit for hours reading forums 'programming' the software to simply put some tracks on an ipod.They should be ashamed of themselves!!!

iTunes for Windows is a pile of fucking shit! It crashes constantly while I'm cleaning up the 6 copies of each song in it's stupid fucking library. The only reason I use this piece of shit is because I have an iPod which is unfortunately the most popular way to get legal music. I got to this site by typing 'iTunes is shit' into Google... It seems I am far from alone when it comes to this opinion. I have near on 20 days worth of music (ie, A LOT of filtering IF I were to do it myself) - I know what music I have... I like the music I have... (it's why I have it!) - iTunes however, seems to have other ideas!

But maybe it's me!... Maybe it's quite normal to get to the end of a MoS Chillout track and then randomly jump to track 7 of a Hard House mix...

I've always thought that iTunes is total shit, and this was confirmed again after installing iTunes 10 (cause I have to bloody use iTunes, not because I want to). I have just installed itunes to set up my daughters new ipod touch. It duplicated all my lovely wma lossless files with crap mp3's on my main pc. I had to spend hours going through and deleting them. What a piece of rubbish it is. Bad user interface, old technology (like their hardware), drag and drop sometimes works sometimes doesn't. I had to read the help file to find out how to add photo's to her ipod and basically ended up creating a copy of all my photos that I wanted to put on the device because apple have no idea how to design software to let me select individual photos! This software is beyond poor, anything which so completely fucks up peoples music libraries and does so well at NOT providing the services it is supposed to provide, should be returned to the authors for a refund.

I guess they don't have any brains at all, just greed.

Hey All, f'in love this thread, this is proper pony software, I rip (sorry 'Import') a CD and iPrune goes off and finds album data from some naff service that names all the albums in a way that it wont recognise so it cant find album artwork. So I manually look it up on iPony Store, amend the data and it splits the album in two, once I wrestle it back into one album and manually add all the correct data, iPrat still wont recognise the album and I have to find album artwork elsewhere anyway and add it to my iShite album.

I couldnt care less how it looks, please Apple just try making it work....

Almost everything with and "i" before its name is shit. iPhone, iPod, iTunes, iPad and some would say even iStevenPaulJobs. The only way I am willing to "synch" a device is by drag'n drop files on a mounted device that will index files automatically. The device should be able to delete, rename or re-tag the music files without a computer. For example, it's when I am listening to a song that I know that I wanna remove it because of tired of it. Not when I'm in front of the computer that is synchronized with a f***ing software like iTunes.

I am an happy HTC Desire smart phone owner. Most of my music is on it and I've never touched my iPod touch since I have the HTC. I'm free from iTunes!

Granted, other manufacturers are shit for not making decent alternatives to the fucking ipod classic. It shouldn't be that hard. I just want a big hard drive. That's all, otherwise I'm not picky. Iriver used to make one, it sold out a few years back at Christmas, and they never introduced a replacement. Too bad, as you could use the vastly superior Media Player with it (not that that's saying so much).

But ITunes is shit. You never know how long sync will take: 30 seconds? 5 minutes? 20? And, of course, it never tells you what it is doing. I also love how sometimes you click on eject, and it starts to sync, and, again, god alone knows how long it's going to take. This usually happens when you really want to take it somewhere.

That's apart from all the times it crashes, is astoundingly slow, sucks up all the system resources, has an opaque shit interface etc etc etc.

I bought an ipod nano when they first came out (around 2006 I think) and promptly threw it in the bin.

Not on purpose though, it was amongst a pile of newspapers I threw away while staying in a hotel in Dublin. I was pretty annoyed at the time.

Anyway, I refuse to buy anything Apple now simply because they are such an arse to use. Macs are a complete arse to use (prob because I am so used to PCs), Safari on Windows isn't very secure, Bonjour just likes messing up IP addresses for fun, and yes.... ITUNES IS SHIT.

I googled "itunes is shit" because I am sitting here now, updating my gf's ipod before we go on holidays. I have my android phone in the other room offlining music from Grooveshark... a process that is taking a while (it is downloading around 400 songs) but literally took a few button pushes to complete. Itunes on the other hand just ain't playing ball.

How the hell do i delete music off the ipod? Can I right-click and remove a song? No, that would make too much sense. I think i have to find what songs are set up to sync and set them to unsync. My god. A. Pile. Of. Shit.

I would say it is shit even on Mac! I've been Apple user for last 10 years and I'm going back to anything but Apple all the way. In 2002 they had an advantage in hardware-software solutions for photo-video-music and I do it for a living. And I converted all the way, I eliminated all PC from my business. Now they forgetting to update pro applications in almost 5 years not freaking updates! They still can't do Blu-Ray! They can't do AVCHD natively! They are fucked. I'm so tired and disgusted by Apple and its idiotic leadership. At present I have 3 apple laptops and one Mac Pro workstation all of which are going on ebay. The iPhones have been kicked out in favor of Android phones. All apple hardware is crap. They laptops are toys. They are so babied and so fucking unreliable, each one of them was in repair. Apple' hardware as of today is overpriced shit. It never was cheap but at least it brought some benefits, not anymore. Great Blog. Judging by the recent comments I wont be letting Itunes update as it would appear it is still Shite. Just Moved all my music onto a new external drive to acommodate all my music files into one folder, All went surprisingly well until letting itunes equalize volume levels, yep it hung my pc. have not had to use this U S (useless) piece of tosh (or task manager) for some time, I did not miss it. I also wont be switching to a mac because of Shitetunes. So relieved Apple failed to deliver me one on time for christmas 2006. Beggars belief That itunes is still so lame.

I binned my orginal ipod for a proper mp3 player. I know use a Sansa clip. It plugs into Windows and you drag n drop files just like you would to a local folder. No bloatware no fucking Wanky itunes butting in saying "uhh hold on what's this... i dont recognise this player STOP you thieving cunt now!" Or "fuck off this isn't currently on this player i must wipe this device and resynch it, i dont give a shit if you lose everything, just buy it again from itunes" The cunts of course factor this in, so what if itunes wipes everything, it's your own fault, and then they get moire money from you. And DRS you can suck my cock, if you buy from itunes you should be able to do what YOU want with that tune.

I have spent the past two weeks trying to bring my music library into itunes (after playing with WMP & MediaMonkey). I have spent hours, every day, tracking down info and hints about the gapless things itunes is endlessly doing. At this point, I would like to know if there is a place I can go to say how I feel about this feature, the gapless playback, which apple is still telling us we should appreciate. I have not yet found a place on the web which can contain all of the expletives this feature deserves. I cannot fathom anybody pretending to be a modern programmer who could let such a thing in, and then without an option to disable it. Maybe the world needs a snail-mail address for Apple, to which everyone whos' used iTunes can send a letter of appreciation for the gapless, automatic and non-killable, option that Apple has for so long foisted on us. All of the features and power of a major app, brought to such a low, by something so obviously and inescapably stupid - I can only cry, and delete all Apple apps.

I appreciate the request at the header to leave Apple some constructive criticism. It's a good idea, I think. Here's the best I can come up with at the moment: "Apple: Fix your shit!" Every release this iTunes app gets further screwed up. I don't know what software development methodology you're following, if any, but you need to re-think it. You've become like Microsoft on steroids - at least there have only been seven releases of Windows and it still can't do content-based file search. There have been countless releases of iTunes, and it gets more and more like an eccentric aunt.

I have an Alienware M17x R3 with two SSDs and iTunes is by far the most unstable, most frequently crashed and worst performing "application" on my laptop. On a freaking M17x!!! Can you believe that?

It tries to back up EVERYTHING on my iPad to my C drive which only has 120GB (and 'backed up files' are named like '35k3j5h2jkhkj32hkjh632k' so users like you and me cannot manage ourselves) and have to cancel it every single time I try to sync. There's one time it copied 29GB of data when i clicked SYNC(!!!) onto my C drive which at that time only had 33 GB left, and we all know how SSDs works. I WANT TO AVOID WRITING UNNECESSARY DATA ONTO MY SMALL SSDS AND YOU FREAKING ITUNES DOESNT EVEN NOTIFY ME ABOUT IT and I wasted 1 hour of my time. (No USB3.0 thank you apple!) And you can't even change the back up folder how retarded is that!?? and there are numerous other issues as well. and the worst part is i have no choice but to endure this utter pile of garbage. sigh..

When I have clicked Apps - I want to look at apps. If I do a search - DON'T show me bloody music. Also - a keyword search often does not produce apps which I know are there - why is it so crap and unintuitive? And this is the minor stuff - the major is the sort of thing wept about above. I've had my share - update iTunes and then it doesn't work... What's that sh*t about? Have to reinstall - miracle of miracles - it works!

I thought it was just my dumb luck to have a completely bear-arsed load of shite like my Nano iPod - I'm on my third, and up until the orange nightmare I now own, the previous two were great and I still have 'em. I've lost count of how many times I've downloaded iTunes to actually make the effing thing work this time, it's so disappointing. At the moment my music library is faint and won't allow me into it to play or add a song on my PC. This has happened before and came back courtesy of a download, but this time, well, I totally agree with all on this site. I think it was the cause of me having to replace my strap-own exterior hard disk, which, coincidentally, went tits-up at exactly the same time as the iPod started playing up. I am now going off to scream like a woman!

I came across this site while waiting to be able to drag 13 songs into my ipod, after i waited 10 minutes for itunes and its 5 or 6 cohort programs (bonjour, safari, etc.) to all finish their aids-riddled loading processes. Why did I find this site above others? Because I googled "why is itunes so fucking slow?" My computer is getting a bit aged for my liking, but still outperforms whatever the best Dell on the market is. 337GB of music (while a lot, 230 gigs of it sucks), and itunes is the one and only program I've ever had trouble or slowness with on this PC - and this PC has been running Vista from the start. Love my iPod, can't say "fuck you in the dickhole" enough to the creators of itunes.

I found this article after typing "why is itunes so shitty" into my web browser. Though I don't give a damn what the program looks like, I thought the first thing you were going to mention is how it deletes everything when you plug in your god damn ipod. Yes, there is an option for "manage music and videos manually", but unfortunately IT DOESN'T WORK ON PLAYLISTS! EVERY time I add music to my ipod, it UNDOES my playlists to how they used to be!!! What the fuck is the problem with them; where was the thinking that caused them to not update this? I have the most recent version of the software, blah blah blah.

itunes has always been a pile of crap and just seems to get worse with every 'update'. It takes hours to 'back up' my ipod everytime i connect it. Plus, i have to restart this process everytime i connect the ipod, and constantly retry because itunes spends all day everyday crashing. Now I've downloaded Update 5.0 its got even worse. None of my apps work on my ipod now, and everytime i sync it fails. plus the update is taking up about half the memory space of my ipod. Seriously, if anyone has a brilliant alternative or way to fix these errors i'd be delighted to hear.

The iPad2 generates anger is I believe due to the fact that its software is so convoluted and inefficient. Most of us throughout the world do certain daily things that keep our lives going in an orderly fashion. We go to work, clean ourselves and our homes and pay our bills and communicate online. Thus our computers are vital to keeping our lives functioning. We buy an iPad2 thinking the device will compliment this orderly process and it doesnt, it frustrates it and anything that can be done easily on a WINDOWS PC takes for ever or not at all with APPLE. Transfer 300mb of mp3 from the cd in my lap top drive to wife's iPad2 so she can listen to the talking book. If I had docked the device to the PC I was concerned iTunes would take over...another fault...and download all the mp3 to the iPad and sync and auto this and that. So all I wanted was to transfer a folder of files over using our home wifi network...which my Canon printer is on, my ps3 is on and our 2 WIN lap tops are on and god knows what else. BUT NOT THE IPAD O NO THAT WOULD BE TOO FUNCTIONAL. I think appearance over ACTUAL USABILITY IN THE REAL WORLD HAS TAKEN OVER THE SOFTWARE It must come from China, the MafiaCapitalist centre of mean spirited exploitation and clusterfucks. I detest the iPad and would have sold it except it had been engraved, and the descision to return occured 2 hours after getting the piece of shit into our home.

I just realized it's been a while since I heard one of my fav songs on iTunes. Indeed, itunes had inexplicably wiped all traces of it! Something else nobody's mentioned is the auto-correct feature when you want to change the album or artist's name. Try changing it to a word with similar spelling but different case (say from lowercase to Title Case)? That's right -- it doesn't work!!

I-Tunes has just cocked up three years of my tunes + all their Artwork ,when I used I-Tune to transfer all my tune from my USB 2 harddrive to my USB 3 harddrive,its like someone dropped a hand grenade in amongst my tunes ,its going to take a very long time to put right,I have tunes with No Titles No Artists No Album name just the run times.so I am just deleting them. I found this site by accident as I was searching for a solution to a problem I encountered while using the most frustrating software I have ever attempted to use, itunes. Due to my son's desire to own an iphone and my daughter's pleading to have an ipod, I gave in and bought them what they wanted. What a huge mistake!! not only did itunes make a mess of my once pristine mp3 files by removing titles, artists and album names, the interface is terribly confusing. I have never worked with a mac system, but I have seen my share of poorly written programs for windows, but nothing compares to the discussing bug ridden piece of garbage known as itunes. I purchased a $25.00 gift card for my daughter and I have spent hours attempting to redeem the thing. I have been searching for ways around program crashes, I have made changes in the task manager to stop apps related to iphone and itunes from crashing. Every time I hit “create new account”, the program crashes. I truly hate the entire mess.

Used to be a great design company but their dictator style of management has given them tunnel vision. They have been surpassed both on technology and design by smaller and more nimble companies. I know many people would disagree with me but those people aren't the type to seek out and look for the cutting edge products or even read non-apple related blogs. Apple is not simply a company. It is a way of living.

That being said, iTunes was one of the major factors as to why I left the Apple world. I love music but it should not be a struggle to listen to it, nor should I be told how and where I can listen to my music. It truly is Apple's albatross.

That was me 12 months ago, stressed out of my mind after iTunes devoured about 700GB of music. Word of warning do NOT select Preferences > Advanced > Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized. Just do sort it all manually. This feature alone, cost me a good 3 months of my life - renaming and resorting files that it totally screwed up.

After 3 years of stress, I dumped my iPhone for an Android device, scrapped iTunes, sorted all my files manually in Tag&Rename software and moved over to JRiver Media Center media software. Media Center costs money - but weigh up Apple Time versus Money?

And also always back up your files either by exact mirror from drive A to drive B or get a RAID array set-up that suits you.

P.S. iTunes is absolute WANK!

Really, its stinks beyond belief, but in my case, it doesnt give me any sort of alternative, even media monkey wont work with the ipod touch. This being the case, they simply laugh and don't need to give a shit, they have us over a barrell. Itunes is like ANYTHING Steve Jobs did, a major control freak who destroys everything by demanding control. It would have far too simple to make Ipods a drag and drop solution where you simply drag and drop the music you want from computer to ipod. However with the BS automatic garbage Apple forces you to use big collections become nightmares and useless. Thus I would not buy ANY Apple product unless I had to. The only reason I have an Ipod is my car stereo only works with Ipad. I can't wait till they dump Apple and use generic mobile hard drives and use simple drag and drop. Jobs had it wrong with DRM music rights licenses, which was the start of the fall of Itunes. Who in their right mind would pay for a song they can only use on 1 device. When just a few years ago you could buy a CD and use the music on anything you had at home. After all the music is YOURS when you buy it. It does not mean you're going to sell it. I can see why everything (not just a few people) hate ITunes it does hang even with the fastest i7 processor. They've made Apple products far too complicated. Have you see the Ipads (you can't even set up the device without a WiFi connection) it should work without one. WHY cause they want you to sign up for an account and give your credit card. This is all tied to their store. Again a control freak concept. This is why PC prevails, people don't want to have pay Apple to do anything to their machines. You have to go to Apple even to install simple memory cards.

It is shit and making me think about finally ditching my ipod. For years I have struggled with various free alternatives for mac, linux and windows. Anapod was great, but they no longer do it. My time with iTunes has been schizophrenic!! I've had some amazing purchases, especially in the early days when they used to get their prices EXTREMELY WRONG!!! But recently the "service"(!!????) has become so bad with numerous cut-outs in the downloads, although they normally refund. You cannot rely on iTunes for a consistent service and the folk at the other end dealing with complaints are PATHETIC-they sound in constant threat of losing their jobs. They trot out the most predictable crap every time and when you tell them it's CRAP they just retreat into a shell. Also you cannot trust iTunes labelling on classical issues. I guess it's a case of iTunes if I'm desperate, otherwise NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

I really cannot understand why Apple make their software so shonky and outdated. Mainly the reason is arrogance. Everyone wants their tech because it is desirable - but when you actually try and use the software like iTunes you realise that Apple are up their own bottoms thinking that this rubbish is ok to peddle "because we have to use it". I see that my fave program Media Monkey with it's fantastic drag and drop interface is struggling with iOS5. The fact of the matter is neither you or I will have any hope of getting Apple to change - even when people tell them their software is poor, they just say "well millions use it and they don't complain". Why do we have to use itunes at all? Except that Apple are so far up the creek with they can't change. Sansa and Sony MP3 players allow you to simply drag and drop albums, songs, etc straight on to the player.

You don't have to go through some piece of shit 'library' to load your songs onto the player. So much quicker and simpler.

I am trying to create an apple account to use a free piece of software to test something. I had to create an account with iTunes. However, when I decided to enter "private" in each of the security questions, it came back with can't have the same answer. I then used "crap", "private" and some other expletive. The age was the next thing I stuffed up because I also think its private. So when I selected some random date I accidentally must have selected a 6 month old baby's birth date. To which the app said I was too young to get an account. After this point whenever I restart iTunes and redo the account setup I get the same "under age" message regardless of the birth date I enter. This was an omen from the Gods I decided. I uninstalled this piece of crap software (apparently Apple is so good when it come to user interfaces ... ) and most wankers that like apple are not very IT savvy.

iTunes sucks dog turds on OSX, too. What I can not fathom is why (in addition to the fucking "synch" crap) you can't just drag and drop a song from one device to another. Is that such a difficult concept??? If I want to copy a file from one folder to another I just drag and drop the sucker. Done. Not in iTunes, though. Just for the record, iPhoto sucks too, although you can still drag and drop images. In fact, the entire Apple team who developed the "i" apps, sucks dog turds in my opinion. I had an ipod touch and considered buying an iphone. Thank god I bought an Android phone. Even though the music player interface is perhaps a little more basic than the iphone, at least I can just drag and drop songs on to the SD card and the phone sorts them kind of OK. It's not 100% perfect but it's pretty good.

Gave the ipod touch to my wife and every time I put something on it (which isn't very often because my wife is happy with a few albums), I am reminded how shit itunes is. It's a pitty coz the iphone is a seriously nice phone but I will never buy one as long as you have to use itunes. Sorry Steve but your itunes sucks big time!

Well like most I found this page when I got hacked off with iTunes and searched on the web. I only use iTunes to update my Shuffle which I only got because I like listening to music while going for walks/runs to keep fit. The headphones are rubbish too, and use a pair of Sony headphones which are 4 times louder. iTunes is just the most hideous software. I had to use one of my retro machines because iTunes won't even install on Win XP64 bit which happens to be my file server. I hate the fact that I organise my music by folder since a good proportion of my music I started collecting as mp3 before everyone thought it was cool to do so and way longer before Apple thought it would be a good cash converter. Many of these files didn't have an id tag so finding anything under iTunes is impossible. So I just ripped that CD and now want to copy it to my iShuffle, well dammed if I know where it is. Any other player and you'd just drag the folder onto it's mas storage interface, easy. iTunes, well I hardly use it and it is as alien as the Aliens in Independence Day. I despise software not written for humans.

Am I right: you can't save the contacts? All you can do is just "SYNC" them. Syncing always fucks up everything. All the email addresses on your PC are replaced with the phone numbers off the phone or all the phone numbers off the phone are replaced with email addresses off the PC.

So I decide to give apple the finger, and am using windows media player and my android phone but I want mp3 not mp4 files to play on my xbox while chilling out to games. So thankfully apple and the artists I own let me convert to mp3 right? Wrong! Apple itunes decides its only going to convert 3/4 of my mp4 to mp3 (even certain tracks on an album that coincide with tracks that it DID convert). Me not realizing it didn't convert and copy all the tracks, I hit the delete button, oops, no biggy, just go to recycling bin and restore right? Nope, apparently itunes IS SOOOO STUPID it doesn't even realize I've actually IMPORTED FILES DIRECTLY TO THE GOD DAMN ITUNES MEDIA FILE. WTF MATE?!

This on top of my old iphone breaking for NO apparent reason, their horrible 'genius' bar service which is more like a bunch of dipshit hipsters that get hard on's for apple and don't know the first god damn thing about THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. the funny/ironic thing about itunes is that Apple markets itself as simple and user friendly, which it's hardware without a doubt is. itunes is the most complicated pile of fuck I've ever seen, yesterday my Dad was ranting that he spent 8 hours trying to fix his songs because he updated some software and everything was wiped off. He's 65 yrs old and said "they should put a warning that says if you're 65 or older do not press accept update".

So you located an album in column browser and now want to add it to your playlist. Nothing in the interface, buttons, menus indicate that possibility. You just have to click on it and start moving, than the whole interface underneath is shifting to show playlists where you can drop it. Selecting the album does nothing only when you start moving the interface changes. WTF?

1. Songs I've loaded to itunes now "cannot be found" in my itunes library so I have to start again. 2. Other songs that I've loaded once are now there 20 times so they take up massive amounts of space. 3. other songs that I've paid for are rights protected so I can ONLY listen to them on my Ipod but can't listen on a windows tablet or PC. 4. Every 3 days ITunes performs and "UPDATE" that paralyses my computer (and probably deletes half my purchases). I can't understand how Apple have avoided the anti-trust lawsuits. Their software is restrictive and actually regularly robs you of content you have already paid for. F**K APPLE

Itunes sucks balls for the pc, who ever wrote this piece of software should be put out to pasture... FFS trying to put on or get off items on your ipad is a tooth pulling experience. Software developers like ImToo have hit the nail on the head and done it right!!!!!

1. Forced to use the software. Why can I not shop iTunes store in a web browser without downloading your shitty application?

2. CPU usage. WMP is like 2%, iTunes is closer to 40% usage.

3. No temporary playlists. So no quickly queing an album to play in order. Which is really fucking basic.

4. No Tabs. So no searching for music and seeing what playlists contain simultaneously. Oh nooo, you must search again EVERY SINGLE TIME. Also no "open in new tab" on the store (which would also be fixed by just letting us use a web browser).

5. Opening iTunes causes WMP to randomly unexplicably break. So if you're listening to music on an interface that's not evil, and then decide to sync some stuff in the meanwhile, YOU CAN'T.

6. The AAC format. Use MP3 like all the sane people.

7. Syncing. Every single music device user at least occasionally prefers dragging and dropping files, like when they get some individual new tracks by different artists. And once you've eventually got them all in iTunes, you will then need to (somehow) get them to definitely go on your device. I have to do a fucked up method of this by having a playlist entirely consisting of new shit.

8. Lockdown. Get over yourselves. You are not silhouete (no I don't care how you spell it) Jesus.

9. The icon... looks so... boring......

I bought an iphone 4s some weeks ago because I wanted a smartphone and turned out to be some useless shit. I can't properly do anything apart from deleting pictures, you can't explore your files (my chinese $10 mp3 player allows me to explore files) I can't even download files from the browser which is bullshit, if I wanted to be near a computer to do everything I need I wouldn't have bought a portable device in the first place. If you want to transfer files from your computer to your device (cause you can't download shit from this stupid phone) then you have to use itunes, thing is that stupid shit puts the files who knows where since you can't explore them and then your apps can't find the stupid files. I downloaded an app to read pdf files and comics, I synched the pdf files using itunes, nothing. I had to download iexplore to paste the pdf files to the same folder the app is. What tha fuck is this bullshit? Not to mention I had to sync the stupid mp3s I wanted to listen on my iphone but now everything is an mess. I have over 600 mp3 files on the phone but I can't sort them so I can't really find the songs I want. My generic mp3 player allows me to browse through folders, so I listen to the album I want, apparently my iphone doesn't know the difference between album or folder or something because when I type the name of the album a shitload of files show up.

My advice stay away from that apple crap. I'm gonna sell this crap and buy an android phone and hope it's better than this shit.

I got given an iphone as a nice thoughtful gift but SINCE i installed itunes to backup my iphone....it wont even charge. my pc doesnt even acknowledge its existence...I deleted itunes: my iphone will charge...reinstall it again & my fucking pc wont reckogize my iphone.. fucking useless massive pile of rotten apple shit.

So yesterday I spent 4 hours uploading 2 albums that I bought. Itunes decided it was okay to sync 400 fucking times so that i had to sit there bored as fuck, but not only that but when i wanted to scroll down to possible listen to music it was like, " oh FUCK NO!" and crashed... Apple get your shit together....

Well if there's anything positive about all this, it's that it's saved me from becoming entangled in iTunes, so thanks to all previous posters. 15 years a windows user, and I hated it, so I made the move to Mac. I've dabbled with iTunes and thought why can't it just do this or that like winamp / mp3gain / nero / windows explorer did? Or why does it insist on duplicating songs, splitting album art from albums or even playing songs in the library that are apparently deleted from the hard drive? And that's only my first impressions! I don't have an iPhone or iplayer, I have an android and an unbranded mp3 player and after reading all the above I'm staying that way. Overall, I like my new Mac, but I now have my old windows laptop (which I desperatley wanted to destroy) by its side to deal with ANYTHING to do with music files. I haven't swore yet. iTunes is a fucking joke. Aah that's better...

I'm not given to using the "F" word for punctuation but believe me I understand where you are coming from and feel you pain. I found this site cause I was simply trying to place an audiobook in the audiobook library of my iPod classic. It would go in my music library as 300 tunes with almost identical titles. I figured out how to get it in my audiobook library but it's still like a bazillian little files. And that's just one book. The latest upgrade so my understanding that I uninstalled it and went back to an older version. It's like getting into a car and not being able to figure out how to put it in reverse once you have gotten it started. I'm going to search to see if there is an alternative to iTunes for the iPod. I'm sure the nano nazi's at apple have already thought of that.

yea what the fuck! i have 400gb of perfectly organised music, covers and m3u in nice organised tidy folders. shittunes gets hold of it and now i have a list ten miles long of each individual track broken up by fucking genre, artist, album, year. Wtf? fucking shit load of bollocks.

I too am so frustrated by itunes. Hours of organizing and getting album artwork and now half of my Stereolab library has exclamation points by the songs. I don't understand why it's so fn difficult for itunes to do something as simple as playing the mp3s that ARE IN THE DAMN directories.

The points made in this article are utterly trivial and petty compared to the most serious downside of iTunes. It's true that iPod and iTunes is an absolute pile of shit, but the biggest reason is the SYNCHRONIZING method used to put songs onto the device. This is the biggest abomination of all of iTunes and is why I smashed my iPod to bits after it deleted a ton of songs and apps without even asking me just because it wasn't in my god damn iTunes library. I will never buy an Apple product again after that. I am on a life long boycott. If your reading this look into buying an android or alternatives to iPod like the cowon D3, try even the google tablets. You can get chinese tablets for very cheap. Anything but a piece of shit Apple product, they have so many control freak restrictions and limitations that the products are not worth it at all, it is very frustrating to use.

Android devices are a superior alternative to iPod. Everyone look into Android there are tons of devices to choose from.

Apple doesn't like to replace music lost to bad hard drives, etc. They tell you to do a backup, which is not easy, since they took 'backup to dvd' off the file menu! Get smart, like I did- keep your cd collection!

I do agree that, iTunes is crap. "Waiting (forever) for sync to start". "Can't establish a connection to iPhone because device can't be found". I only tolerate the iPhone (with iTunes) because of my company discounts. Too bad I can't find a fully functional alternative to sync my calendar and backup my music library.

Agree with everything said....Itunes is absolute shit. It gets worse with every update. Constantly losing songs, having to re-download everything, telling me my user name and/or password are wrong.... ...hell it even told me my damn birthday was wrong. Now it tells me I have to sign in to play songs I imprted from a cd... ...seriously crappy. I ended up buying a hard drive just to put my music on so when it convienently loses my music (again) I'll have it backed up.

Its synched all the contact details from my sisters phone to mine. I don't think I'll ever be buying any apple products.
